Primer

Primer – Definition and Uses

What is Primer?
Primer is a preparatory face makeup product applied before foundation to create a smooth, even surface, enhance makeup adherence, and extend the longevity of your makeup look. It can also address specific skin concerns such as dryness, oiliness, redness, or enlarged pores.

Types of Face Primers:

  1. Mattifying Primer – Controls oil and shine, ideal for oily or combination skin.
  2. Hydrating Primer – Moisturizes and preps dry or dehydrated skin.
  3. Pore-Filling / Blurring Primer – Minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines, creates a soft-focus finish.
  4. Illuminating Primer – Adds a subtle glow to dull or tired skin, great for a radiant look.
  5. Color-Correcting Primer – Available in various tints (green for redness, peach for dark circles, lavender for sallowness) to help neutralize discoloration.

Finish Options:

  • Matte – Reduces shine and smooths texture
  • Dewy / Radiant – Adds luminosity and glow
  • Natural / Satin – Balances oil and hydration for a soft, skin-like finish

How to Apply:
After skincare, apply a thin layer of primer evenly across the face using fingers or a brush. Focus on areas that need more texture control or long wear. Allow it to set before applying foundation.

Benefits:

  • Enhances makeup durability
  • Smooths and evens out skin texture
  • Controls oil or boosts hydration depending on skin type
  • Improves overall makeup finish
